Just what I needed        Rating:

I purchased this book from Amazon because I heard the author, Julie Barnhill, on the radio. I have 3 small children and was constantly in a state of irritation or full on anger at them. Life is frustrating and I thought my miserable attitude was just normal for a mom. I longed for each day to just pass; I was existing... barely. I heard Julie's message on Focus on the Family and cried all the way through it. I also cried while reading through the book (which I devoured in one evening). I did not realize before that I could live my life without anger and I also did not know how harmful my attitude and actions were to my children.

Yes, this is a book written from a Christian perspective, but I would encourage any woman to read it. There is so much practical advice from the "why's" to the "how's" of dealing with anger. It's been about 8 months since I read "She's Gonna Blow" and I've changed everything from the way I parent to the way I spend my down time. It has not been easy -- change required action. I'm a much calmer mommy now and the best part is, I'm enjoying my children. Each day starts with joy instead of dread. I was dealing with horrible tantrums from my 5 year old daughter and that behavior has stopped. It seems obvious now, but she was mirroring my behavior. I teach her what I learned in the book and my greatest desire is that she is someday a mom who never has to suffer through the debilitating effects that anger has on a person's life.

My thanks to Julie for writing on this difficult topic. So many women, me included, are living better lives because of this message.

Awesome reading!!        Rating:

This book is one of the best I have ever read. I truly appreciated Julie Barnhill's honest and REAL discussion about the struggles that mom's face. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for any mom, especially those of young children!

Bigger Picture        Rating:

This book definitely helped me to take a step back from my day to day hassles and look at the bigger picture. It's not so much about making my kids behave; it's about making me behave when all I want to do is scream. I've read so many dicipline books on how to make my kids behave, but this was the first one that actually made me look at myself and how my dicipline style affects my kids. It has really helped me keep a level head when their behavior gets out of control. It's definitley going to be a process to stop yelling and I know I'll keep coming back to this book whenever I need a reminder of how a loving parent needs to act.

Great book for helping Moms        Rating:

Being a Mom is tough and sometimes it is hard to not get frustrated, even frustrated at your kids. Julie gives personal examples from her own life of how this came out and what she did to change her own attitude through focusing on God's own forgiveness for herself. It is inspiring and helpful I thought and has helped give me a new appreciation on how to deal with my own anger of the little things.
