Product Description The Book of Jasher, reprinted for the first time in several years and with a new introduction by popular author W. Jeffrey Marsh, offers Bible readers interesting and important insights into the first two thousand years of biblical history. The Book of Jasher follows the biblical accounts in Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Joshua. It reads like the Bible but includes interpolations and elaborations not found in the Bible. In addition, it sheds light on Bible stories from the time of Adam and Eve, the ministry of Enoch, and the account of the great Deluge during the days of Noah to the Tower of Babel, nefarious Nimrod, and faithful Abraham and his descendants. As Moredecai M. Noah wrote in his introduction to the 1840 English translation: "Without giving it to the world as a work of Divine inspiration, or assuming the responsibility to say that it is not an inspired book, I have no hesitation in pronouncing it a work of great antiquity and interest, and a work that is entitled, even regarding it as a literary curiosity, to a great circulation among those who take pleasure in studying the scriptures." I have seen this book referred to in the Old Testament and was very happy to be able to find a copy to read. It adds more detail to some of the very interesting events of the Bible. It is a good study and reference book in my opiniion.
Fascinating reading

Was intrigued with the Scriptural references to the Book of Jasher, so when I found it online and read a few chapters, I ordered the book. It is an extra-biblical history of the period covered by the Pentateuch. It provides a lot of interesting anecdotal information that allows one to flesh out an account cited in Scripture. Of course, the Holy Bible is its own best commentary, but these other ancient histories are worthy fields for gleaning.
Taken with salt

Aside from the disputed nature of the book and questioned authenticity, when taken with a little salt and viewed with a wary eye, this book is very interesting.
Mostly, retelling stories we are all familiar with, the book of Jasher adds some interesting insights into many of these old stories.
Don't really want to get into details because if you are LDS you will be looking for specific details and not need my yakking.
Just remember, it is interesting, but not cannon.
Interesting insights

I have enjoyed reading the Book of Jasher. It has added a lot to my scripture study. I have used it to gain some insight into the life of Joseph, whose brothers sold him into Egypt, and Abraham, the father of Isaac. While the Book of Jasher doesn't replace my study of the Old Testament, it has been a welcome addition to that study. It is an important addition to the library of any Jew or Christian.
